Tomato Sauce

What You Need:

  • 2 28-ounce cans of crushed tomatoes, undrained
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon coarse-ground salt 
  • 1 teaspoon coarse-ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • Add sugar to taste (cuts down on acidic taste from tomatoes)

Saute onion and garlic in olive oil 3-5 minutes.  Add crushed tomatoes, seasoning
and tomato paste. Mix well cook for 20 minutes over medium heat, reduce to simmer
for about an hour.  Best if it sits and reheat before serving.
